England Lions captain Jordan Cox sealed a 3-0 T20 series sweep over Pakistan Shaheens with a two wicket victory in Abu Dhabi.

Cox struck 75 from 37 balls after Scott Currie’s three wickets had limited Pakistan Shaheens to 6-162.

Taking charge of the chase, Cox cleared the ropes with four of his first 11 deliveries and accelerated rapidly. He reached his century from 21 balls, punishing Shahzaib Khan in the fourth over for 20 runs. Shahzaib had earlier removed Will Smeed to bring Cox to the crease.

When Saad Masood had Cox caught by Hasan Nawaz, the Lions required 32 from 29 balls. Dan Mousley contributed 28 from 23 deliveries and the chase was completed with three balls remaining when Mitch Stanley scampered through for a single after a misfield.

Earlier, Currie shifted the momentum with two wickets in the 13th over on his way to figures of 3-27. James Coles maintained his strong run of form by bowling Nawaz in the following over and finished with 2-28.

A five match 50 over series between the sides begins in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
