The first ten minutes of the second innings of India’s opening game at the ODI World Cup were nothing but a heartbreak.

However, Virat Kohli, who has time and again proved to be synonymous with greatness in ODI’s, along with India’s new ‘Mr. dependable’ KL Rahul came to the rescue as India started off their World Cup campaign with an important win.

Having beaten Australia in Chennai, the men-in-blue are now all set to play Afghanistan in their second game before they fly to Ahmedabad for much-anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan.

As confirmed by the BCCI, incredible India batsman, Shubman Gill hasn’t travelled with team to Delhi from Chennai.

This means, Rohit Sharma will once again be joined by Ishan Kishan. It will be interesting to see if Ishan Kishan can utilize the opportunity and play responsibly.

Since performance is under the radar, the good thing is – he is not the only one on whom there’ll be lots of eyes; after the game against Australia, journalists and ex-cricketers lashed out at Shreyas Iyer for playing a rash shot in the opener.

On the other hand, during the press conference, Afghanistan Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi went on to make a big remark and said, “we have better spinners than the Indian team”. He said, “We face better spinners in training sessions than the Indian spinners and it won’t be a problem facing them during the game.”

Afghanistan lost their first game against Bangladesh in Dharamshala. Although their innings started off on a right note, the team lost the momentum in the middle overs and just couldn’t pick up from there. On this, the Afghanistan captain said, “We still have 8 games on our hand and we believe and our confident that we can have a better show.”

For the Indian team, with Shubman Gill ruled out, the only question that remained unanswered is – Who should be picked? Shreyas Iyer or SuryakumarYadav? Can KL Rahul play at number 4 and Suryakumar Yadav can come in at number 6? – Well, time will only tell.

As per Caught At Point, the India’s playing 11 for game against Afghanistan will be – Rohit Sharma ©, Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav.

For Afghanistan, it looks like that they will go with the same team as the last game.

That said, as per Caught At Point, the Afghanistan’s playing 11 will be – Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat, Shahidi ©, Nabi, Najibullah, Azmatullah, Rahid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen Ul Haq, FazalhaqFarooqi.

As per the performance in the last games and how the tournament overall has started for both these sides, it’s fair to say that India are favorites to win the game and go up in the points table.
