Cricket is not only about the big hits blown out of the ground, the wickets taken in a flurry or the record books that swell each say with every new achievement.

The sport is a lot about a cricketer benefitting another part of the world despite not originally belonging to that region in the first place.

World cricket has seen that in the case of Kevin Pietersen. It has further seen this scenario where it comes to a certain Ben Stokes.

And who can forget Eoin Morgan?

But is that all? Could it be that a part of the world we love for its wintery feels, the Niagara Falls and the Maple Leaf be up for something special?

You bet.

Jamaican born Canadian gem, Aaron Johnson is in Hong Kong at this time with Canada’s National Team, as they tour Hong Kong from January 29th to February 6th.

This is a massive series for a cricketing nation that’s featured in past ICC events. But a lot about it’s present is defined by a cricketer who hails from the Caribbean but is a massive addition to its cricketing armoury.

The talented right-handed batsman with a blistering average of 58.90 in T20Is and a record 121* against Panama will be looking to unleash outstanding performances in Hong Kong.

His 2023 season was nothing but outstanding, setting a Canadian record for the most international centuries scored by a Canadian cricketer, also achieving fastest cricketer to reach 500 runs in T20Is.

He also assisted Canada in qualification for the ICC T20I World Cup to be held this year, and is according to the International Cricket Council, in the Top 100 batters in international cricket.

He will, of course, want to carry this form into the new season, scoring big, while in preparation for the ICC T20I World Cup, which is just around the corner as he will be one of the main batsmen in the Canadian side.

As Canada eyes to regain its foothold in the annals of international cricket, the one cricketer that it needs to fire, and one that likely will, will be none other than Aaron Johnson.
