Last evening, VVIP Uttar Pradesh, truly justified their name, by putting up a clinical performance that saw them ascend ‘Uttar’ that means northwards/upwards in Hindi.

The team was rather astute in their showing beating the Rajasthan Legends comfortably by seven wickets.

Putting Rajasthan into bat under the beautiful night sky of the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, the VVIP Uttar Pradesh bowlers dented the Legends batting line up, taking four wickets in the first powerplay with Rajasthan just managing a paltry 27 runs.

The enormous bowling feat was led by the Chevrons pacer, Cristopher Mpofu whose immaculate line and length bowling saw him pick up three wickets including the prized scalp of Rajasthan captain, Angelo Perera.

Having been castled early, the lower order of Rajasthan showed much spirit helping the Legends climb up to a challenging 157 in their allotted 20 overs, courtesy some healthy blows from ex- Indian bowler, Sreesanth who deposited two maximums enroute to a 20 ball 28.

Uttar Pradesh, despite the absence of regular captain Suresh Raina made quick work of the target chasing the 157 runs down in just 17 overs with seven wickets to spare.

Each stroke from the VVIP Uttar Pradesh batters painted a master piece on the canvas of the cricket pitch, courtesy the destructive heroics of opening batter Bhanu Seth who made 41 of just 19 balls with five maximums.

Bhanu was ably supported by his comrades in Anshul Kapoor who made an eye pleasing half century and Parvinder Singh with his commendable 44.

With a performance worthy of every praise, VVIP Uttar Pradesh undoubtedly look the team to beat and no wonder they are the table toppers as things stand, with a very imposing run-rate of 1.7.

Today, they come up against another team soaring to heights galore in Red Carpet Delhi who beat Chhattisgarh Warriors in their last outing courtesy a blistering ton from their South African opener, Richard Levi.

So get your cricketing hats on as the anticipation of this encounter blooms like a garden in spring, a part of the IVPL that has much excitement and thrill to bring.
